If you are trying to avoid the double shipping fees it won't work, they are fixed per card and non refundable, I believe. I also suggest not to cut it too close, AMEX may even be looking for an excuse to not credit last minute purchases, why take any risks.
I’m Canadian and I have to ship the GCs to the border mailbox that I rent, and their pickup grace period is 14 days. Each border visit takes 2 hour (return) for me. I want to pickup two cards in one visit without getting penalized
