Thinking more about the premium alcohol - I’m not inherently against this. I appreciate the opportunity to splurge for a special occasion.
However (1) the base/complimentary offering needs to be pretty good and decent variety. I don’t know any of the wines I saw on the list upthread (2) the premium offerings should be more limited in scope and with a clear differentiation in quality from the base options (3) pricing should be no more than retail, ideally a bit less, which would still probably give DL a decent margin, whereas they’re “losing” money on the free stuff.
Otherwise it has the potential to feel like nickeling and diming.
Also, I suppose this is geared more toward couples as there are no per glass options and only a few half-bottles.
