All USA and Canada flights from LHR are main meal about 75 minutes after departure, second meal 90 minutes before landing. For June the main meals are in post 576 above. For the second meal, because SAN is a bit longer than most USA flights you are spared the Thai chicken and E numbers pastry, instead you get something similar to post 566 above (that was May though), so a proper second hot meal.
Thank you, that was helpful. For one the crew only had menus for the return flight, so I think I knew what they were supposed to offer us better than they themselves... Second, it means the first hot meal at 1:30pm UK. I think that's a little early as it limited me to only one of the surprisingly good avocado bagels in the B lounge.
It was interesting to observe the meal service: club first at 60min, then WTP at 75min, and then it took another 45min to cater all of WT. It took over an hour for the WTP plates to be cleared. All cabins were pretty much full (J0, W2, Y5 I think).
There is also no waste in catering: only two rows got the choice of all three mains, and the last row to be served didn't get any option at all.
Considering that 'an upgraded main' is one of the selling points of WTP this seemed rather poor.
Food was good though, and we got our preferred options (though there was absolutely no status recognition in W as far as I could tell).
