Andaz Tokyo has a strong sense of place and vibe and I think Maestro Chi had personally quoted that it was his favorite piece of work ever. I guess the physical plant nowadays is still telling of how much the owner had invested (maybe not just monetarily) into the hotel.
The Edition Toranomon has anything but a sense of place. Not saying it is bad, but just a huge contrast with the Andaz. Each to their own. I did get upgraded from a base room to a penultimate Tower Suite at the Edition once over a peak period and the tower view was indeed every bit breathtaking (extended across the dining room, living room, bedroom and bathroom). But another time I got zilch upgrade and only got a view of the Toranomon area. So... YMMV
