Hi all, hoping for any advice:
I've been trying to book an Asia-CDG-NYC itinerary with a several day stopover in CDG. I have located both one-way segments in J for 1 person, (70K and 50K, respectively) showing award rates and availability. I have tried calling both AF and FB multiple times, and each time the agent has had some response for why this is "not a thing." AF agents have said they cannot book stopovers with miles, to do it on the website (you can't), to call FB, etc.

When I talk to FB agents, I give them the individual segments and they just tell me they will be individually priced for a total of 120K, rather than any award rate like 95K, for example. When I ask t hem to manually combine the two segments, they say I am just going to be priced as if they are individual bookings.

Any advice on 1) should I be calling AF or FB to do this booking, and 2) any specific words/instructions to give to the agent to help me do the booking propeprly?
