So, the final destination from the insanity of the last 2 days - Madeira. Flight number 7 of 7.

Pleasant sleep for 4ish hours and I woke up naturally and before my alarm. Breakfast was included and it commenced at 4am with an awesome spread with an assortment of fruits, cold cuts, breads, and hot food.

Short 5 min walk to the terminal to get my boarding pass printed for the next flight. The security line was a zoo, as it would be at Sparrow Fart on a Monday morning.

Remote stand boarding from the 800 series gates, but a Star Air (Maersk company) Boeing 767-300F just pulled up to the stand. Brainmelts from those GE CF6 engines ensued.

I am absolutely buzzing with excitement for getting to Madeira for the first time, seeing my mates and THAT SHRIEK FROM THOSE CF6s ON THAT 767... PHWOAR #AvGeek #Enthused #RBF 🤣

Tyres kicked and fires lit with TAP Air Portugal to the Portuguese overseas territory, and country 44 on my list (after adding Sharjah and Dubai to that list just yesterday) I have Star Alliance membership through Aegean Airlines so this flight was going to contribute FF points at the very least.

Standard intra-European flight on CS-TNW an Airbus A320-214 with no meal service and no real service at all, to be honest. Upon boarding I was already jostled by the crew as I tried to find somewhere to put my backpack (suitcase was gate checked).

The infamous moveable curtain for "Business" class.

I was sat next to 2 Canadians visiting Portugal from Toronto, and they kindly allowed me to snap my first glimpse of Madeira on the wild approach to one of the world's most dangerous airports.

On this occasion, applause is allowed as it was a true rollercoaster and I honestly thought I might experience my first go-around in all of the flying I have done in my life.

Now, 5 days to explore what Madeira has to offer. Very enthused for the experiences. I have hired a car, so let's see how my LHD chops are too (went with an auto to be safe!) 🤣 Oh, and for those following the adventure so far... Thank you for the likes and comments. I will be doing some hikes and scenic stuff so look forward to sharing this with you.
