I do hope that JAL does like Singapore Airlines' free WiFi, where you have to have your Krisflyer number registered on the booking to get free WiFi.
I thought with SQ you don't have to use Krisflyer on your boarding pass, but just need to have a number and log in? I haven't flown on SQ for years to check that, but it's the way I understood it when I got a friend a ticket last year with some very near expiration Krisflyer miles.

I know ZIPAIR doesn’t have IFE screen but still be hard for the FSC to justify the extra fee.
I wonder if during the refits Zipair installed the same system that QR is using on much of their fleet? I know that's a lot cheaper to operate than the old Panasonic systems that JL still has on mainline. (Not sure what's on the A351 yet). I know QR still has Panasonic on at least some 787s and still charges $20 on those, but the newer system is something like $9 or $10 for full flight and much faster. At least JL never went crazy with their pricing for Panasonic like AA, I've seen some AA flights around $40 for full flight which I suppose is driven by a lot of American business travelers being able to expense it.
