Some early impressions:
- The standard room is a joke, but luckily the hotel seems almost completely empty and we were updated to a hakwsbill pool villa as Hilton Diamond member. This is much better
- villas are very nice and modern. However, they are all “garden villas” to use maldives terminology - none are on the beach and none have views.
- beaches are in very bad shape. They are very small and covered with seaweed, which happens June-Oct apparently. Other resorts that have the same issue do a much better job of clearing seaweed.
- food is just ok. They ship in food supplies 1x/mo so almost everything is frozen except some fruits etc which they fly in. Bread/pastries/etc are all stale.
- service is very friendly and polished, similar to a maldives experience. Nice welcome to the island.
- shocking how empty the hotel is. Only 2 other people at breakfast this morning.
- altogether I’m a bit underwhelmed so far, but just on first impression. I was expecting a maldives experience where you really feel like you’re around the water all the time, while here nothing is on the beach so we are spending most of our time on the island interior.
