It definitely depends on the individuals needs and stay pattern. For me my Tokyo stays are always around a week, so I always combine it with a SUA and lock in either a deluxe or corner suite. Not using a SUA would be very risky and significantly alter my choice in accommodations.
I can see some value if SNA'ing into the deluxe suite on a longer stay and no corporate rates. If you have rates in the low 40K range at Andaz and the EDITION among others, I don't see much value.
