I am asking because a lady on the AA reservation hotline claimed the opposite, but I am not sure whether she was fully informed.

I am Platinum Pro with AA, and would like access to the lounge, so gave them my AA number. But would like not to lose the miles. Would it be possible to claim the miles to Asia Miles while simultaneously getting the benefits of Emerald status? I.e., could I use my AA status but claim miles for a different programme? Many thanks!
So long as it is a qualifying fare, yes, you will earn miles.

Please see the page on the AA website specific to earning miles on CX:
https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/...ay-pacific.jsp

(per that chart, neither S nor L will earn AA miles/points)

Also--I merged your post into our consolidated thread on earning AA miles/points with CX.
