It's worth remembering on the way back that you can consider the *G fast track (assuming you are *G) in the United terminal and then the airside connector to walk back to TBIT which can be a lot more enjoyable than TBIT security. Just allow some extra time if you've never used the connector before.
I’d be careful trying to use the *G track in United terminal - tried twice over the past 3 weeks and rejected both times as “not holding a UA ticket”. Explained every time I fly through LA I enter security through the UA terminal to visit Polaris lounge on NZ J ticket. Not sure if I had line dragons both times, unlucky or if the policy has changed. (Walked from TBIT too to get some air so rather annoying having to walk back)
