Pullman Hotel Sharjah Review

Woke up before my alarm and while there was not much of a sunrise, there was certainly a nice view owing to a vacant block in front of the Pullman Sharjah. The bed was extremely comfortable and I absolutely loved the room. While I was on the 10th floor, it was really the 18th floor with 5 floors of parking plus 3 floors of restaurant, gym + spa and other facilities.

The shower is epic, and the bathroom is massive.

The Uber ride from the hotel to Sharjah Airport was interesting. Eyad, my driver, lived in the Emirate of Sharjah since 1968 when he was 3yo. What sparked a deep conversation about the history of the Emirates and a diversion to the Cultural Square of Sharjah was an observation that there were 4 mosques on the 4 corners of a freeway interchange.

The Cultural Square is a large roundabout with a monument of a Quran in the centre, with 4 mosques and some government buildings surrounding it.

Quite a lovely aesthetic and a very beautiful place in what could have just been a concrete jungle like the CBD is (and my initial impressions of Sharjah).

Very glad for the 3 minute diversion, although the heat was starting to get to me.

Check in was quite seamless, and the ePassport reader accepted my passport so I didn't get a stamp on the way out.

As intra-Middle Eastern Business Class is actually classified as First, it meant I earned F TPs for this sector. I also found out that zadly, because I booked the ticket via an OTA, it also meant that I had booked a P class fare so there would not be any lounge access in DOH. Also explained why I couldn't select my J seat in advance.

Never mind, I know what to do to get a good F fare ex SHJ and get Al Safwa lounge access next time around.

Anyway, pot of brekkie in The Lounge before kicking the tyres and lighting the fires for Doha.

The lounge itself isn't very large, but the food on offer wasn't too bad, all things considered.

I had some roti pratas, a za'atar croissant, lamb keema and some labna and hommous with pickles and some veg. Lipton Iced Tea was also enthused.

I also got to watch my aircraft arrive, and was happy to note that I hadn't been QR'ed and it was indeed a Boeing 737-8 Max. This would also be my first ever flight on this aircraft type - yes I don't know how I managed to go this long... And not by choice either!

A7-BCH taxiing on to the gate.
