Agree, I wouldn't pay 10,000 JPY extra, I've nearly always been able to get day of departure upgrades. They're a little more expensive now than before, but typically 2-3,000 JPY.

It's literally just a better seat, there's no additional service with it. If it's a 787 or A350 then the seat is pretty good, if anything else then more blah.
