I'm not sure what changed. I went back to look again and suddenly prices were much more reasonable and several hotels (including Aloft) that had been unavailable were available. I wound up booking the downtown Fairfield Inn for $189. I figure it's nicer to be downtown and able to walk places. We're just getting on a cruise ship the next day.
