I'm potentially interested in booking an Aer Lingus Avios award ticket from Rome to the USA. The connecting flights exist, but the website won't let me book this award ticket. It will allow me to book separate award tickets from Rome to Dublin, and then Dublin to the USA. I assume this is a glitch. Am I correct in assuming that booking this award itinerary on one ticket would require fewer miles, and that it is possible? Does anyone know if Aer Lingus offers reasonable award tickets prices from the Continent to America (cheaper than, say, booking on BA), and how one would book these? Thanks.
