I think there is an AC app has an upgrade list to show the people on the waitlist for J.
If I haven't asked for any upgrade, can I see any upgrade list? If the list is short, I may request an upgrade; otherwise don't bother.

yes, you can see both the standby and upgrade waitlists for any flight by looking at the flight status page in the app.
