I have heard from many world traveling friends that security in Asian airports is effective, yet friendly - perhaps it's a cultural difference, as yelling, threatening and barking orders is not something that is generally done when dealing with visitors in Asia. I have not had much personal experience myself beyond flying in/out of YYZ; where the silly 'copy-the-tsa' rules abound, the attitudes are far more professional and pleasant, or you don't get much verbal interaction from the screeners at all.

As US airports begin to opt-out of the TSA staffing and run their own screening staff (I really hope this becomes a reality soon), they will understand it's in their best interests to ensure the screeners are part of the 'customer service team' and behave as such. Even if federal rules exist to give TSA screeners the first crack at private jobs, there is nothing I am aware of in the rule that requires them to be retained for a specific timeframe: so if they don't do as the airport manager requests, they are subject to termination. The airport only has to follow the screening SOP and standards the TSA sets - screener behavior and attitudes will be under the airport's control.
