It feels like the junk fees are a pure revenue grab for properties that otherwise have something seriously wrong with them financially, or they feel they are in a superior position to charge it based on location, etc.
Note that this thread is for the Hilton Chicago on South Michigan Ave, not the Hilton at ORD you pass by in the tunnels to/from the Blue Line and parking garage.
