The structural obstacle for WS to join Skyteam is that hey would have to spend mega dollars codesharing and linking IT systems with 12 airlines that will not provide an adequate return in either passengers or profits. WS really only cares about the 5 major/anchor airlines (Delta, KLM, Korean, Virgin, and Delta).
