Continuing the idea of this discussion, but slightly different:

I have a China Airlines ticket from Brisbane to Taipei and it's a Delta Skymiles award ticket. It's on 006 Delta ticket stock, if that matters.
I also have a Delta Air Lines ticket from Taipei to Seattle that is also a Delta Skymiles award ticket.
The connecting time at TPE between tickets is 3h, 35m.
These had to be "purchased" as two separate tickets because Brisbane to Seattle was not offered as a Skymiles award.
So basically the same question as the OP asked, when I check-in at Brisbane at the China Airlines counter, do you think they would check my bags all the way home or only their flight to TPE?
If I have to retrieve my bags at TPE and recheck them with Delta, there's not a whole lot of time to clear Customs & Immigration there to do that.
