A little bit of tact on the part of the FA would have made everyone felt a lot better in this scenario. How about saying, "Sorry sir, we are running a little low. Let me make a round and I will come back to you with a refill if I have any left." Using low-cost carrier as an excuse just sounds a tad unprofessional and I don't think JetBlue or South West FAs running around reminding people they are on a low-cost carrier.
