just a note: not applicable specifically to this case, but AC seems to have made a change in the last 1-2 years for transborder/domestic award tickets where they do charge for even one bag. I booked MP awards in the past and was never charged - I think it was last summer which is the first time they charged us. Note that when booking via Aeroplan, they charge different mileage amounts based on their revenue fare categories, so you can choose to pay more miles for a fare that includes seats/bags, or not. My understanding was that award tickets from *A used to book into flex, but now are standard, which doesn’t include a seat or bag. YMMV, I guess?
