The passport thing is the bane of my AS existence. They (AS) have seen my passport so many times, scanned it, typed it in, … and I have entered my passport info manually into so many reservations. And yet I never get a boarding pass when my reservation includes an international segment, usually on a partner. I always have to go to the ticket desk. And to add insult to injury, whatever AS captures usually isn’t good enough for the partner and they expect me to do another document check at the departure gate for the international segment.
So I am actually surprised you got a boarding pass, initially, despite the passport check requirement.
Same experience for me, can never get a bp with AS yet they require me to provide passport info every time. Whereas UA stores that info and can generate bp. When I’m tight for time I’ll generate a united bp and just go to gate to get as bp. Quite the hassle. And this is despite doing Airside as well. Major pita for someone who intl a few times per month.
