Here are my impressions of the JW Marina - I was surprised at how much I liked it, but of course, it might lack the wow factor of some of the other longer-lived properties in the area. Up to you to decide!
Pros:
- Upgraded to a “Grand Guest Room” - this was described to me as a junior suite, which is pretty accurate as it had a separate living room and bedroom - unclear if actual “suites” were available, but I didn’t push
- Service was pretty consistently friendly
- Bed was very comfortable - plush mattress, plush pillows, covers of good plushness for Dubai
- Generally comfortable furniture
- Delivered a welcome gift of fruit and baklava
- I liked the design - generic but rather residential with a comfy vibe
- Offered 4 PM late checkout proactively
- There is a fourth floor lounge - they made me an iced latte and had macarons
- Elites seem to get access to the breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets at JW Kitchen (no apparent real food service in the lounge) - some food is decent, and some is less so - the desserts were really good
- Breakfast was quite good with good omelets, hashbrowns, and pancakes
Neutral:
- While shower pressure was strong enough, the rainfall head didn’t have a very wide area for water flow - the body jets were nice, though
- The iPad-controlled TV system was a bit finicky, especially on longer YouTube videos
Cons:
- AC in the bedroom wasn’t very strong (better in living room)
I would come back.
