Yes cause , not related to AM , transfering MR to an FFP you dont or barely use or just opened an account can be flagged as suspicious and then account can be locked or the booking suspended or cancelled , or AM will tell you no availability anymore when you try to book this route , and as MR transfers are only one way then you can say bye to your 16K MR

Also yes cause as said earlier AM is a mess as long as something goes wrong

No cause you have already an account , so maybe populate it with a flight then make your transfer, and 16k MR doesnt seems to be a huge amount (less than 2k$ if i understand correctly)
