Totally agree with you. The extra points are not a present, there are other reasons behind and the fear of losing elite passengers at the end of the year because they don't requalify is one very realistic argument.
For myself, even though I am far ahead in my requalification this year, I already know that I won't manage this pace every single year, so the fact that you have to requalify every single year makes the change very negative also for me. Could very well be that I am losing SEN status at some point and decide to switch to alternatives.
