What is your Priority Club status?
Diamond

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Single Cosy > Double One Bedroom Suite

How are the rooms?
The front door opens facing the bathroom, with an inner corridor in front, which leads to the living area on the left, and the bed on the right. I suppose this is sufficient to call it a suite, but having the two areas split by the bathroom was slightly annoying, and the inner corridor was wasted space, of which there isn’t much in the first place.

Weird bath design. There is a circular curtain above a bathtub (thus half the bathtub space is redundant). The rain shower head is very high up, you have to reach over the bathtub to turn it on or risk a lot of cold water being dumped on you. No handheld shower head. Though I used the curtain appropriately, water somehow flooded out of the bathroom to the inner corridor and even beyond the front door.

Mirror with an inbuilt TV screen in front of the bed. Windows are very high up, uncertain if they can be opened, so not much natural light.

In spite of my negative comments, it was still a very nice room.

How is the exec. lounge?
None

What was good and what was bad?
Arrived at 2pm and was specifically told they were only letting me “check in early for free as Diamond”. Was given a welcome chocolate. Another guest was told to wait until 3pm.

Breakfast was proactively offered at check in. The breakfast room is a long trek from the lobby and involves going up and down stairs twice. Good quality selection on the buffet. Variable service (some people were offered tea/coffee, I and others weren’t, one lazy guy asked a server to get him some toast and she even buttered it).

The entire building is decorated and furnished to a high standard, but on the 5th floor corridor where my room was, there was a room-sized alcove in between every room which again seems like a waste. Just along my walk to the lift there was enough space in the corridor for at least 4 other suite-sized rooms, I don’t understand why it was designed like this.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I paid £73 net courtesy of the Amex UK IHG offer. Despite being a frequent traveller to Glasgow, I’ve never managed to stay here before because the rates were always ridiculous on the dates I was around.

The location is excellent when arriving by train, with one entrance inside Central train station. Depending on rates, this would be my first choice in the future when travelling by train, along with the Indigo, though there is also free street parking from 6pm to 8am.
