The passenger across the aisle sat down and promptly dislodged the armrest pad, which leaves two "spikes" sticking up. Full flight, can't move.

A crewmember tries to reattach it. It falls off again. Pilot comes back, tries to fix it. Nope.

A couple of "suits" come aboard and have a try at it
Double nope.

Finally, an old man in a coverall comes aboard with a couple of rolls of duct tape. He proceeds to affix the armrest cushion to the armrest with lots and lots of tape until it looks like a giant grey football. He gets a heartfelt ovation from the passengers, takes a bow and we leave only a half hour late. Everyone is grateful and the affected passenger gets free drinks.

I was truly surprised they didn't cancel the flight.
