Can you use trip credits denominated in USD on a trip originating in the UK?

Do all flights have to be AA operated or can you have a BA metal AA coded leg?

Does the itinerary have to be priced in USD or can the USD credits take money off a GBP priced ticket?

Can any of this be done self-service online? If not, how?

The FAQ here says “select countries” but the asterisk note doesn’t actually give a list of countries:
