A lot of these flights depends on the crew and specially the SD. I have had great flights from India and ones where you rarely saw the crew. I have SD and crew thank me for my loyalty and take the food orders from SE before others and other time nada. I have always at least on DEL-YYZ had my food order available and food order taken ahead of others.
If the other SE got asked for his preference its possible but unlikely that your status was not on the manifest. Or there was a last minute seat change that was not evident to the crew. Or they did not care.
