Yes, back in the day InterContinental hotels in particular all had their signature gifts for Ambassadors, in addition to the de rigueur fruit plattter - soft toys in some apparently, but the ones I visited gave hotel-branded chocolates (IC Tokyo Bay), a selection of nuts and dried fruit (IC London O2) and even a branded face cloth (IC Tokyo Bay again). I still have that cloth in its little fabric bag. Living in a hard water area I know that if I were to use it, it would go stiff straight away!
Holiday Inns in America were also fun - be it a "spin the wheel, win a prize" thing on checkin, or the more common "goody bag under the counter", handed over with a flourish when you checked in. They used to contain things like a small bottle of water, bag of "trail mix", a KitKat, that sort of thing.

It's much less fun these days. Since the rule changes, all I've had were an orange Club chocolate bar (IHG Rewards *Club*, ha, ha), some gummy sweets (tasty!) and a bottle of red wine at the IC O2 earlier in the year (which I gave to a friend).

This was waiting for me in my room at the IC O2 in February:
