I agree that GUFs are good for long haul F, when jokers don’t help. But on routes without first, it can be good value to use a joker plus GUF to pay a WTP fare and then have access to CW. Or to have access for F/CW reward bookings, especially with an Amex 2-4-1.
I am not clear about why you would need to use both a Joker and a GUF in that situation? It may be there is something I haven’t clocked.
The Amex 241 situation I could understand although again if you had a GUF2 you could still access F just by using fewer Avios?
The one thing I can see is that if there is no I bucket availability in CW/CE then a Joker is useful certainly.
