Intended 5 days around September 18. Will hire car and wanting a quiet time away near Inverness area...intend to hike, walk and visit Inverness as well. First time. Thanks in advance.
You could head in almost any direction and find some great places. Many years back I liked to head down to Aviemore and walk in the Cairngorms. Ullapool to the North, Caithness and the beautiful coastline to the north east. Fort William and onwards to Glencoe and Rannoch Moor to the south west. You will be going at a good time as it is after the main holiday season.

A word of warning though, September can still be a problem for midges (Google Highland midge season), That could impact your walking. Cold weather or wind scares them off though.
