BA has different policies than US airlines. Non-refundable means non-refundable. There's generally no standby or same day change like we see in the states (this is changing). European business class and US domestic first class are handled quite differently. But BA and European airlines do have much better consumer protections than US airlines. There are tradeoffs. Always best to remember they all have different rules and ask - that's why FT is such an advantage.
