BA Nonrefundable Policy
I booked some flights in CE several weeks ago for an intra-Europe journey planned for August, knowing at the time that the bookings were nonrefundable. Foolishly, I did not bother looking closely at the fare rules and assumed that if I needed to cancel the booking, I'd be given a flight credit less a penalty as is the case with (nearly) every premium cabin fare in North America. Now it turns out that I won't be going to this destination after all for personal reasons. I am learning the hard way that BA really means it when they say nonrefundable, and I'm not getting any flight credits for the nearly $1,500 that I've spent for use towards a future journey to a different BA destination. I find this policy rather rapacious, especially given that BA can effectively "double sell" the seats to someone else once I cancel them at a loss.
Is there really nothing at all I can do here to recover any of the value besides the taxes? For example, could I resell the tickets online to a different person without breaking any rules? I will not be able to visit this particular destination within the next 12 months.
