I did take UA29 last night and am now in Changi. UA2 starts boarding in about 30 minutes. This flight was the first one to SIN where I didn’t fly in basic economy. I bought a W fare and used points with extended expiration dates to 7/31 to move into PP and from there Polaris. Consequently, I spent the day in the Polaris Lounge at SFO.
EDIT I believe we won! Though Singapore flies an A350, which usually departs after UA29; however, it inevitably arrives first. The A350 seems to fly faster.
Even if you settle for the free WiFi (text messages, etc) on United flights, Flightaware works in a browser. So I watch the arrival airports, other flights, etc. live.
