That is still the case. They still get a top Bordeaux that would typically be served in F on many airlines. A notch below what they served 10 years ago, but still far superior to what all other airlines serve in J. Other airlines offering has also gone down in j/F with rare exceptions.
If Chateau Batailley or a Grand Cru Classe Saint Emilion is what Dodgeflyer drinks every day, then I admire him. We are talking wines at USD70 a bottle.
no, in Europe not everywhere we pay huge taxes with wine.
Without much research I can find Chateau Batailley Pauillac for 35USD/31.5CHF in Switzerland, taxes included.
Most bordeaux vintages proposed in the last few years by QR are the lowest quality = cheapest and often the less interesting.
I posted already, far is the time QR proposed in business class 2th Grand cru from Bordeaux in the best vintages (around 140USD value) . I think it was around 8 years ago, it was a pleasure to look at the wine menu.
Quality is going down with consistency. I just hope it will not reach the bottom as Lufthansa/Swiss in Business class.
I'm almost sure that Emirates have now superior wines proposed in Business class.
