Looking for some quick advice from the wisdom here. My flight for this Sunday from LHR to BOS (BA213) has just been cancelled and we’ve been rebooked from onto the late evening flight (BA239) and downgraded from WTP to WT. The almost midnight arrival into Boston doesn’t really appeal, especially not in WT.

It looks like there are options for sale both on AA and several choices via DUB or SNN but the BA app isn’t offering those as choices.

Our ticket was booked with Avios + Cash, if it matters and we have no status.

Questions:
1. Can anyone let me know the reason for cancellation? I assume I’d be eligible for UK261 compensation?
2. Will I have better luck calling, or with no status is it not worth trying?
3. We will be at the Venice airport flying VCE-LHR tomorrow, should I try talking to someone there instead?

Our preference would be to end up on one of the EI flights I think.
