Stay completed late May. Used free night and points for Friday and Saturday night stay. Had to keep checking if a standard free night would open up for one of the nights or else I would've booked the larger studio with points, but luckily it opened up. Seems like weeknights were more available, but the cash rates were even more attractive.
Got off the shinkansen from Kyoto (specifically Kyoto JR Thunderbird - Tsuruga transfer to shinkansen - Kanazawa) and walked about 5 minutes to the hotel after figuring out which way to go at the station. Checked in at about 1:00PM and room was available (no upgrade). Picked up the complimentary toiletries on the side before heading up to the room. Room itself is large for a base room. Small counter space for the sink though. Looked modern and pretty new still. View of a parking garage directly across. Laundry room available next to the gym. 3 separate washers and dryers. 100 yen coins only. A bit grimy where the doors sealed in the washer, but we needed to use them. As a discoverist only, chose this place over the Centric next door because of the free breakfast even though my free night would've covered that one as well. Breakfast was pretty basic, but of course better than any Hyatt House in the US. Stayed at the Hyatt Place Kyoto before when they still had free breakfast and that one was way better. Kind of interesting seeing the Centric breakfast going on right across through the windows. Definitely looked like they had more variety. Overall, awesome value for non-globalists.
This place was also super convenient due to it being on the same side of the station where the Komatsu airport bus was as well as the Shirakawago bus. I believe the more local buses are on the east side of the overall Kanazawa station, while these were on the west? Some info regarding the Komatsu bus. No reserved seats, so first come first serve. Depending on flight, be there half hour early maybe to guarantee a seat. Bus runs on a schedule on their website based on the flights of the day. Was worried pickup being scheduled so close to my flight departure time, but we got there as scheduled and Komatsu turned out to be even smaller than I thought. I think one international flight at a time, so not much traffic through security and immigration. Note on Shirakawago bus: be there at least right before the bus leaves (reserved seats), because it will leave right on time without you. Witnessed this myself.
