Post CRJ-900 and E175 cabin refurbishments (2024-25)

Now that the first tails are done and flying, I feel comfortable talking about this.

Firstly IFE.

The IFE is being actively removed from the express fleet. Starting with the CRJ900s, there are at least a few tails where this is done already. The 175s will be a while yet, because they're going to need a separate announcement system installed (its currently built into the IFE system, this is for a situation where you get a pair of non-french speaking FAs). however the system will not be updated anymore.

New and improved WiFi will be installed with streaming services, Timeline unknown.

Overhead bins

The first 175 (Tail 540) has had a new set of overhead bins installed, that are significantly larger, all bags will be able to go in wheels first, which is significant. I haven't been on it yet, so cant give pictures or my thoughts but I'm looking forward to it. Timeline is into 2025 (presumably as they go through heavy.

The CRJ900s are also getting new overheads, similar to tails 723-730. Timeline unknown.

Service

Instead of all cold snacks in J on shorthaul, there's now hot snacks. Current one is a flatbread with a small side salad.
