Thanks again to fereke for confirming my suspicions that this flight has wide open availability. Now, I know that my inability to bid on a J seat is likely due to having a partner award ticket, and not because of limited availability in J. I don't know how often TATL flights from LAX get cancelled, but I know it is infrequent enough that I am not going to plan my trip around the inevitability of it.
