Hertz charged me for a traffic violation before pickup
On May 15th I rented a car for six days at the Calgary Airport. Both the actual pickup time and reservation was at 10:30pm. The agent incorrectly entered 10:30am when I picked up the car, which I didn't notice. Beyond just an extra day charge that resulted, it turns out the previous renter ran a red light at 2:33pm. Hertz charged my credit card $436.50 for the violation.
I sent Hertz a scan of my AA boarding passes, which show that I was enroute at the time flying AUS-DFW-YYC, and did not even arrive at Calgary until shortly before 10pm. They refunded the extra day charge, but that was all.
I'm sitting on this big traffic ticket, as well as various small charges (CDW etc) connected with the extra day.
No further response to my emails, and unable to reach anyone by telephone.
Is there any sort of small claims or arbitration process I could use in Canada to dispute these charges? (I'm not living in Canada. I was only on vacation there.)
