About 25 years ago I had my checked bag scanned at IAD before dropping it off, and the screener had a large red "military explosives" on his screen that time - caused some commotion that the bagels in the bag triggered that message - I was quite puzzled to find out that bagels had a very similar density as Semtex and therefor showed up as the latter on a regular basis on that machine. Luckily that was before 9/11, so it was handled rather relaxed after I showed my bag of Einstein bagels...
