A lot of the current NEO issues are only due to the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engine on the A320neos, whereas BA use the CFM LEAP 1-A engine on their Airbus A320neos, which is an engine that has so far proven to be quite reliable.

Ultimately I don't think that getting rid of these 2x A321s is much of an issue, as a lot of the fleet still consists of older, trusted aircraft (unlike Wizz Air, who have retired a lot of these trusted aircraft and are now struggling with their Airbuses having the Pratt & Whitney engines)

Like others have mentioned, staff, not aircraft, is one of the big issues for BA right now!
