Still, BA is a business and IAG (and its shareholders) will force it to run as tight a ship as possible, even if that means the occasional cancellation or wet-lease substitution. It's probably seen as the cheaper option all round.
I believe most of the wet leases are to do with lack of availability of flight crew rather than shortage of aircraft. Training is running at full capacity.
