Multiple alarms being set off by a powerbank [at T5 security]

Mrs C had a very unpleasant and unnerving experience at T5 First Class security this morning. the first time of going through there since the recent renovation. Stopped at the security as the powerbank (telephone charger) in her carry-on luggage and the bag itself as well as her belt gave off multiple alarms for "explosives". Has had the power bank for at least a couple of years and would probably have passed through airport security at least 50 times without incident. Had a pat down, police called with sniffer dogs, interrogation, forms etc. Eventually allowed to go. The question is - is this due to the new equipment in the security or what could have prompted this? While we recognise the need for all of us to be kept safe, it is a bit unnerving to say the least if there is no apparent reason for these alarms to be set off. Lucky that she got to the airport in plenty of time as she wanted to have a meeting in the lounge prior to her flight time. Any suggestions as to what could have been the problem?
