Award Ticket Cancellation Fee with Taxes <$50
Hi there,
I recently cancelled a number of Virgin award bookings via their live chat feature on the website. The agent was kind enough to instantly redeposit the miles, and said that the $50 pp cancellation fee would be taken from the taxes paid on the bookings.
Two of the bookings had taxes far less than $50 pp ($5.60 for a US domestic booking and $5.60 for a US->Europe partner booking). She said that in those cases, Virgin would reach out for payment to 'fully cancel the flight'. However, I already have miles back in my account. Just curious if others have had experience with this; I suppose the risk of not paying would be Virgin could claw back the miles redeposited?
Thanks for any experiences or knowledge that could be shared!
