Didn't have time to finish my review yesterday.
Let me start with a couple of items I forgot to mention: the room had plenty of outlets and USB connections. The air conditioning didn’t make a loud humming noise, but it kept blowing air continuously - it made a windy noise. It wasn't newly installed, but it smelled ok. You also couldn’t close the sheer curtains; they would be blown away all the time, unless you would turn off the AC. But then you would hear highway noise (fortunately quiet at night).
The plastic liner bag in the trash can was installed in the Comfort Inn/Motel 6 way, so stretched like a plastic ‘drum skin’ at the top. I pressed it before I took the picture of the desk/tv/etc, that's how much I dislike this. I understand: it saves a few seconds when cleaning the room because you can immediately see whether a trash can has been used. But as a guest, I don’t feel taken seriously, I feel like a by-product of the housekeeping process. Housekeeping is done every other day at this Spark, maybe at all of them. The bed is of acceptable quality. I didn't have to find out which sheet goes where and where I am supposed to go like I always have at any US Hampton Inn.
The breakfast was 100% as expected. It is served
every day of the week from 6:00 am until 10:00 am. I don't know if all Sparks are like this, maybe it is because they are close to the Eastern / Central timezone border.
Normally I would skip this kind of orange juice, especially when served in a plastic cup. But for the purpose of this review, I can say: that it tasted as expected.
I was thinking about taking my stainless steel silverware to the breakfast room, but I didn't want to look like a snob. But actually, I should have, because just before I arrived at this hotel I had visited the small
Elwood Haynes Museum (cityofkokomo.org) - inventor of stainless steel (and many other things). He developed it because his wife didn't like to have to polish the silverware each time they had guests.
Signature bagels and stuffings. Note that there are bagles on each side.
They did have yogurt and muffins. To be honest: fresh fruit, yoghurt, and boiled eggs could make my day staying in a basic motel. But no fresh fruit or eggs at Spark.
The receptionist did a good job of keeping the area clean. I think later someone else took it over.
