Mama Shelter Los Angeles [left Accor]

I could not find a thread on this place. I just stayed for four nights. I chose this hotel as it was the cheapest Accor hotel in LA. I was pleasantly surprised by it too.

I booked a standard room and as an Accor Gold was upgraded to a 'suite'. It was Ieally just a much larger room with a sofa. The bed was very comfortable, a small welcome amenity of fruit and biscuits was provided and they even decorated a mirror with my nane and a welcome note. Overall I liked the room. The shower had good pressure. Some might complain it takes too long for the hot water to arrive! It had his and hers basins. I wasnt a fan of the basin design but that is a pretty minor complaint.

My rate included breakfast. The California brwakfast of bacon, avocado, eggs and toast was good. The huevos rancheros was also good. I wasnt a huge fan of the breakfast burrito but it was fine. i noted I got given free water, extra coffee etc...

There is a rooftop bar and a bar downstairs and they seem popular. They have parties that go onto midnight or 1am at weekends so light sleepers may be disturbed. It dodnt disturb me though. I also got given several free drinks by the bar staff.

The laundry service was punctual and fine. Bizarrely there is no room service. It also only has two lifts and occassionally one has to wait a while, particularly if there are lots of peopke at rooftop bar.

It is on Selma Avenue, close to Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Given the price of LA hotels, I was very pleased with Mama Shelter LA. It didnt break the bank, was comfortable, the staff were very friendly and the location is good. Unfortunately it is not good for light sleepers.
