Yeah I typically book as guest, enter my AA number and TSA number, then after booking the system recognizes my status (it’s immediate after you get your PNR) to select seats. It’s not 100% seamless I guess but in the world of partner airlines, it’s very good. I’m happy and I like to complain.

Also unless you’re on a very expensive fare you’ll probably make out better on LPs with distance vs fare because JFK-ANC is very far. Just my guess though
